Roebuck Bay Mangrove Snake
Artwork Description
This large acrylic painting on canvas (82 cm × 176 cm) is inspired by the rare Mangrove Snake (Myron resetari), found only in the mangrove habitat of Roebuck Bay, Broome.
This snake, Resetar’s Mangrove Snake, lives among the roots, tides, shells, and soft mud — it is an imprint of the sacred dance of land and sea.
Through vibrant circular blue motifs, yellow and green mangrove shoots, seashells, and sand textures, the work reflects the living rhythm of the tidal ecosystem — a place where land and sea breathe together.
As an Indigenous contemporary artist, I paint the stories of Country and the deep connection between nature and spirit. This piece captures both the beauty and fragility of the mangrove world, honouring the rare life it holds while raising awareness of its vulnerability to development. It is a celebration of place, memory, and the enduring voice of Country.
Valuation: $10,000 (Full Market Value)
